Work continues on the Bermagui Dirtsurfers Mountain Bike Park, significant in roads have been made with some very very very large trees moved.  Those that were just a hopeless case have had the track diverted around,  so for fans of the track you will see some new diversions in place when it reopens.  So a familiarisation lap will be recommended.  Some photos of the tremendous work being done:
 


  Bermagui Dirtsurfers 2010 Race season status
 

Well hello to members and guests.  2010 has seen a bit of a hiatus for the Bermagui Dirtsurfers and our race program.  This is due to a couple of reasons:

Forest NSW has highlighted a timetable with us for the logging operations of our track area.  Unfortunately they have not kept to this timetable and haven't even commenced operations.  We have been trying to obtain a time table from them but to date this has met with an information black hole.  Which then leads onto the next point.

Recently the Far South Coast was hit by devastating winds, these winds have caused a number of very large trees up and down the coast to be literally uprooted.  Unfortunately the Bermagui Dirtsurfers Mountain Bike Park was not left unscathed.  Our long bridge was destroyed by a falling tree, and a number of other large trees have come down at several points around the track.  Suffice to say there is a lot of work required to repair these issues.  So with this in mind and the pending logging the Dirtsurfers committee is at a bit of a quandary, repair the damage now and have the track logged straight after, or wait for the logging to occur and allow Forest NSW to remove the trees for us.

We are still searching for a Forest NSW representative who want to discuss the matter with us and when we find out and have a time frame we will let you all know,  then we intend to recommence our race program ASAP.

Also due to the problems we are having at the moment, all paid members for the year 2010 will have their club membership carried over for 2011.  2011 will see a full race season.

When we have all the timings we will be organising a working bee on the track, we would like to thank all the kind offers we have received so far and intend on taking you up on those offers.  So please keep an eye out on the website for the date.

  Wrap up Bermagui Dirtsurfers Inaugural 3hr Twilight Race 2010
  5pm on Saturday 9th January 2010 saw  the commencement of the inaugural Bermagui Dirtsurfers 3hr Twilight race.  Over sixty riders took to our track and from  all reports had a great yet tiring time.  Check out the results below:

Annual General Meeting

Sunday 1st November 2009.
As advertised the AGM was recently held, positions of committee members declared vacant and now it is someone else's turn to manage our little rabble.  Peter McCabe has taken over the position of President from Dino Zucco who has done a wonderful job for the past 12 months.  The meeting was quite uneventful and if you are that way inclined have a read of the attached minutes.  A couple of things to note though are, the upcoming race in November and in particular the twilight 3hr race on 9th January 2010.  Spread the word, flyers have been attached to the site under 'Events'.  The November race will be the last of our 2009 club series, and for those 'Bermagui Dirtsurfers Club Members' who have raced consistently, you are all in the hunt for the club championship.  Hoping to see big turnouts at the next couple of races...happy riding.

  For people who wish to continue racing with the Bermagui Dirtsurfers Mountain Bike club, please consider becoming a member, on race day have a chat to a club official who can sign you up.  Keeping in mind the Bermagui Dirtsurfers is a not for profit organisation, and up until now has been maintained by the generous help of community members and the deep pockets of the current committee, for the club to remain in an active and financial state we need members and the support of the local community, so spread the word and join up.

Only club members will be entitled to earn points to be eligible for the end of year championship, and prize pack.

On a final note, please remember we have club shirts for sale at a cost of $35 in various sizes.  If your wondering what they look like, check out the photo's from 11th April 09, all club officials will be wearing one.  Due to the breathable material they are great for riding.

Also keep an eye out in the near future for the new club jerseys, they will be a hot item. expected to be sold out quickly.
